More than sixty undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs in business, humanities, social sciences, science, and management are offered at Jammu University. Merit-based admissions are provided to the students at the main campus as well as in the more than 90 affiliated colleges using the CUET examination for getting admission into Jammu University. Besides this, the PhD admissions are along with personal interviews. At the undergraduate, graduate, certificate, and doctorate levels, Jammu University provides around 50 courses. The admission process will be conducted through CUET exam scores. However, post that, counseling will be done. For PhD, candidates must pass an entrance exam and interview by the university. Admission forms can be done online only. Jammu University conducts the following undergraduate courses. They are all full time and run for a period of 3 years. BP.Ed., BA, BCom., LLB, BBA, BA LLB, and B.Lib.Sc. are a few of them. But in regard to eligibility, one needs to pass through 10+2 from a recognized board with at least 50% marks. For the LLB program, a graduation degree in any field with a minimum of 45% of the possible points is needed. Admissions to these programs are made on the basis of scores acquired in the JUET examination. Students getting the required marks get selected for the programme.
M.Sc, M.A, MBA, M.Com, MCA and other courses available at postgraduate level in Jammu University. Full time courses, that is, 3 years. Graduation is a must, along with at least 45% marks in the relevant subject, and one can then apply for a PG program. An additional important consideration in the admissions process is a student's performance on the JUET exam, with students needing to score at least 25% on this test to be eligible. The admissions process for the MBA program also takes CAT , MAT , or CMAT scores, taken at Jammu University, into consideration.
At the research level, Jammu University offers PhD and M.Phil in a variety of disciplines, including History, Commerce, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Mathematics, among others. The eligibility for these doctoral degrees will be a PG degree in an appropriate discipline with at least 55% marks from any recognized university. Admission into this programme is made strictly on the basis of merit grades, which are awarded based on scores from the JUET exam.

There are various documents needed to be admitted to Jammu University. These include a completely filled up admission form and marksheets from 10th grade till graduation. Besides this, a provisional, character, or migration certificate of the last college from which he/she has studied is necessary. All candidates are required to produce an affidavit by all. Candidates of the reserved category must also include an affidavit relevant to their category and a gap affidavit wherever applicable. A necessary certificate must be presented in addition if a candidate is claiming status in a reserved category. Lastly, the requirement of the state subject or domicile certificate completes the application process.

Regular placement drives by the University of Jammu have helped its students secure jobs in various disciplines. Extramarks recently conducted a placement drive for Business Development Executives, wherein eight students got placed during the drive. This event was overseen by Vice Chancellor Prof. Manoj K Dhar and coordinated by Dean Students Placement, Prof. Vinay Chauhan, and a team of dedicated professionals.
The drive included a pre-placement talk and personal interviews by the panel of Extramarks along with participation from MBA, BBA, and MCA students. The other companies that took part in the placement drive include Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. along with the Biotechnology and Microbiology students, where interviews were done online.
There was an on-campus placement drive by Guru Nanak Institutions, and job opportunities were provided for the students from the main campus as well as offsite campus in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, and Mathematics. The response to these job opportunities was very good.
The Placement Cell has been widening its relationships with many industries to improve the employability skills of the students. The cell regularly organizes drives to connect the students with the potential employers.
It has been a matter of proud for the Jammu University as several top recruiters participated in the placement drives that the university organized to facilitate the students through job opportunities in diversified sectors. One of the notable Ed-tech companies is Extramarks, which recently interviewed students for Business Development Executive positions. Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., one of the leading pharmaceutical manufacturing companies, also engaged with students for different positions in the pharmaceutical industry. Another shining light was from Guru Nanak Institutions, known for its strong show in education, who enrolled students in their science programmes. Other notable companies that recruited students include BYJUS, educational technology major; ICICI Bank, India's largest private bank; and many more companies from the likes of Vedantu and CoRover. The variety also speaks to the commitment of this university to enhancing student employability across different disciplines.
