Bharathidasan University is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC), ranked 36th by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB), and has an NAAC A+ rating. By providing nationally and internationally competitive learning and creative activity through high-quality teaching, research, and extension programs, Bharathidasan University aims to foster scholarly, scientific, and critical inquiry among its students to advance the frontiers of knowledge and enrich and elevate them as citizens of the state, the nation, and the world. There are 29 specialized research centres, 16 schools, 39 departments, and 4 faculties in the university. The university has 263 faculty members who serve 2564 students and intellectuals. Forty postgraduate programs in M.A., M.Sc., and M.Tech. are among the 151 programs offered by the university's departments and schools. The programs above are offered throughout the following semesters: 31 M.Phil., 33 Ph.D., 19 P.G. Diploma, 11 Diploma, and 10 Certificates under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The university offers 15 undergraduate and 26 graduate programs through its distance education mode in addition to the conventional teaching programs in the departments and schools. To be admitted to a UG program, applicants must have passed the 12th grade, HSC, or 10+2 exams, or an equivalent test from any accredited board. Candidates must graduate in the relevant stream in order to be admitted to postgraduate degree programs. Candidates must pass class 10+2 or its equivalent in order to be considered for diploma and certificate programs. Both online and offline curricula must have a minimum weight of 50% in order to qualify.
