Babu Banarasi Das University, commonly referred to as BBDU Lucknow, was founded in 2010. It is a state-private university based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh Das founded Babu Banarasi Das University Lucknow, which he named after his father, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Babu Banarasi Das. It is a UGC-recognized university that has also received approval from the All India Council for Technical Education.
