Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University (VBSPU), formerly known as Purvanchal University, was established on October 2, 1987, in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, under the U.P. State University Act of 1973. After being renamed in memory of the late Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, a former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, the VBSPU has grown to be one of the nation's top universities. VBSPU started with just 68 affiliated colleges but has now expanded to include 552 affiliated graduate and postgraduate colleges, serving nearly 380,000 students across three districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

 VBSPU Admission-

At VBSPU, students can get into different courses like BTech, B.Pharm, MBA, MCA, and MTech by taking entrance exams. For most of these courses, students need to take a test called PUCAT. However, if a student has taken bigger national tests like JEE Main, CUET, or GATE , they might have a better chance of getting in. For BTech, 70% of the seats are filled based on JEE Main scores through UPTAC counseling, and the other 30% are filled through PUCAT.

If there are any empty seats after the counseling, the university may allow students to join directly based on their JEE Main scores. For MBA, half of the seats are filled using scores from the CUET PG exam, and the other half through PUCAT. If there are empty seats in the MCA program after the CUET PG counseling, the university will fill them based on PUCAT scores. For MTech, students with GATE scores are given preference. All final admissions are decided through a counseling process where the university checks the students' entrance exam scores and chooses the best fit.
