One of India's oldest and most prestigious universities is the University of Mumbai, formerly known as the University of Bombay. One of the first three universities in India, it was founded in 1857 as a result of Wood's Education Dispatch. Following the city's name change from Bombay to Mumbai, the University's name was changed from University of Bombay to University of Mumbai by a notification published in the Government Gazette on September 4, 1996 by the Maharashtra government.The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) awarded the university a 5-star rating in 2001 and a A++ grade in April 2017. Undergraduate and graduate courses are available at the University of Mumbai Institute of Distance & Open Learning (IDOL) in a number of subject areas, including engineering, management, science, commerce, and others. The university offers BA, BSc, and BCom at the undergraduate level. The university provides students with postgraduate programs in MBA, MA, MSc, MCom, and MCA. Admission to IDOL Mumbai University is mostly determined by merit. For the MCA and MMS programs, the university administers an entrance exam. For all courses, the university admits students in two sessions, which are January and July. Direct online applications are accepted via the official website. The eligibility requirements for each subject must be reviewed by students before to applying for Mumbai University IDOL admissions in 2024. The Mumbai University website has the application forms for every program that MU IDOL offers. Each program has a different application fee. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements set forth by the university in order to be considered for any program. For undergraduate courses, students must have completed class 12 with at least 50% of the possible points, and for master's programs, they must have earned a graduate degree in a related field with at least 50% of the possible points. Admission to Ph.D. programs is determined by a university-based entrance exam, a personal interview, and a valid set of qualifying marks. For applicants from the SC, ST, and OBC reserved categories, there is a 5% mark relaxation.
