St Xavier's University: Important Information & Updates

Eligibility criteria of courses in St. Xavier's University, Kolkata differ based on the course one is interested in pursuing, but I have broadly mentioned some of the common eligibility criteria criteria for courses in St. Xavier's University, as follows:

  • Undergraduate courses : The applicant should have passed at least 45% of the aggregate marks in four subjects at the +2 level. Aggregate is calculated based on compulsories and highest marks among the rest of the subjects. The applicant must have also passed English in +2 level.
  • MBA Courses: An applicant must hold a postgraduate degree with an aggregate of at least 50 %. He or she must appear for any of the entrance exams-XAT , CAT , GMAT , MAT , CMAT , ATMA, or NMAT.
  • LLB Courses: Provisional selection to candidates is made based on marks garnered in the Xavier Law Admission Test (XLAT).
  • Age : Candidate should not have attained the age of 20 years as on July 1, 2024. For SC, ST or OBC candidates, the age not exceeded on July 1, 2024 is 22 years.
  • Time Limit : Candidate must not have passed his qualifying exam more than three years ago.
  • EWS reservation: Up to 10% of seats in every course category for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). For seeking admission into institutions covered under this, applicants have to upload an EWS certificate issued by the competent authority.

Qualifications for Admission into the Course

For admission to this course, a candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • Essential- Any undergraduate Degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline from a recognized University (Approved by UGC), with a minimum of 50% marks (or equivalent grade point) in aggregate. 45% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and Christian Communities.
  • In case, final degree result is not available at the time of application, % of marks for eligibility shall be calculated on the basis of 1st to 4th semester or 1st & 2nd year (as applicable) (6th semester in case of a 4 year degree program) and the candidate is required to pass in all papers. In case such mark sheet of the final degree is not available at the time of admission, such admission shall be deemed to be provisional and that very latest mark sheet of the final degree must be produced before such student before 31.10.2025; otherwise, such admission will be liable to be cancelled.
  • Appearance in one of the following National Level MBA Entrance Tests: XAT , CAT , MAT , CMAT , & NMAT with a reasonable percentage/percentile score, valid for the current academic year. The Institute shall prepare the primary list for GD-PI-WAT strictly based on this score.
  • RESERVATION FOR EWS (Economically Weaker Sections): A maximum of 10% of the total seats for every course shall be reserved in the EWS category. This provision has been done by the government guidelines. The applicant who is willing to apply in the above category has to upload his EWS certificate issued by the competent authority. If not, advised candidates to refer to the detailed government notification before opting to apply for this category.
