In 1978, the intakes at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital were expanded to 65. MBBS seats have been increased from 65 to 100. This Medical College produced 2794 MBBS graduates as of 2014. Postgraduate studies in 16 subjects first began in 1981. These have now increased from 16 to 20 disciplines. So far, IGMC has graduated 923 postgraduate and 377 diploma students. From 2002 to 2005, more postgraduate courses were added in the disciplines of radiation (oncology) and skin and vaginal disease. Applicants for BSc must have passed class 10+2 with chemistry, biology, and English as standard courses, with a minimum of 50% for general applicants and 40% for SC/ST.
