Is IGNOU a government or private institution?
The central government is in charge of IGNOU which is a government organization. It has many study and regional centers.
Do IGNOU degrees have value?
UGC has given its approval to IGNOU. Its degrees are highly regarded and of considerable value. The curriculum of IGNOU includes many assignments that encourage one to think deeply.
Can I choose a study center on my own at IGNOU?
Yes, you have full rights to choose your study center and regional center while filling out the application form for admissions at IGNOU. You can also modify it later if you have chosen the wrong one
Can I get direct admissions at IGNOU?
IGNOU checks the total marks obtained by students in the last qualifying exam. For example, if a student wants PG admissions, then his/her UG aggregate marks are checked, and if a student wants UG admission, then his/her 12th marks are checked. However, for B.Ed admissions, IGNOU conducts its entrance, and admissions are only offered if a student has a valid score in B.Ed entrance.
Do I need to pay for the books that IGNOU provides?
No, you don’t have to pay any extra money if you are referring to books provided by IGNOU. You can access books online and offline, if you are not in Delhi, you can visit your study or regional centers to access the books offline.
How many courses does Indira Gandhi National Open University offer?
Indira Gandhi National Open University is one of the oldest universities. It offers more than 200 degrees, certificates, diplomas, and PhD programs. It has more than 500 faculties with 400 plus academic staff. It has 60 plus regional centers, 2000 plus support centers, and 20 plus abroad centers.
Can a student after graduation from IGNOU get a job?
Getting a job entirely depends on one’s skills and abilities. No institute, college, or university claims a 100% job guarantee. Though institutes provide placement facilities to students, at that time also student’s skills and aptitudes are checked. If we talk about the jobs after graduating from IGNOU, many graduates from here have given remarkable results in UPSC and other government exams. Many are working as top authorities. Ashok Khemka Sir, an economist, computer scientist, and IAS official, is one such case. He has completed his PG degree which is MA Economics from IGNOU. IGNOU does not provide direct jobs or does not claim that after graduating from here you will get direct jobs but the kind of freedom along with studies it provides is impeccable. It does not force one to come to college regularly instead one has to complete the assignments and earn credits. Because of this system, students can find the time for other activities such as learning anything extra if he/she want to, can prepare for any competitive exams, etc.
Can I join IGNOU whenever I want?
Yes, rather than following a conventional system, Indira Gandhi National Open University uses an admission cycle approach. This means that you can apply at any cycle. IGNOU admits students once between December to January and then between July to August.
Do I need to come to classes regularly at Indira Gandhi National Open University?
No, you don’t need to come to classes regularly because IGNOU offers distance and online programs. For that, you have to study by yourself and complete assignments. At the end of the term, you have to appear for the exams.
In which state or national level entrance exams, do I have to appear for admissions at IGNOU?
IGNOU is an open university hence does not offer admissions based on entrance exams. Its courses are open and available for anyone who wants to get a degree from IGNOU. Also, it hasn’t set any maximum age limit for most of its courses. However, it conducts its entrance for only B.Ed admissions.
How can I pay my IGNOU fees?
For any pending fees at IGNOU, you can directly visit the official website of IGNOU. On the home page, you will find various links to apply for ODL, Online, etc. Click on the respective link and you will be directed to a new page where you have to enter your username and password if you are already registered. You can pay any pending fees after entering your credentials.
What is the UG course fee at IGNOU?
For UG programs at IGNOU, fees generally range between INR 8,000 to INR 50,000. One has to pay the registration fee of INR 300 also during registrations.
What is the minimum eligibility required for admissions at IGNOU?
IGNOU offers various UG, PG, PhD, and Certificate courses. For the UG program, one must have completed their 10+2. For PG programs, one must have a valid degree, and for PhD programs, a master’s degree is required. IGNOU offers many certificate courses that require only 8th-class/10th/12th marksheets. A few certificate programs are in advanced versions, so a minimum age limit has been set by IGNOU. Also, a few certificate courses require a PG degree. For diploma courses, one must have completed their 10th and for the PG Diploma, a UG degree is required at IGNOU.
How can I get the study material at IGNOU?
The Material Production and Distribution Division at IGNOU has the authority to distribute the study material to the students who have enrolled for the courses at IGNOU. However, one can visit their nearest study or regional centers to get any information about the study materials, they will guide the students regarding it.
Can I appear for IGNOU end-term exams anywhere all across India?
Yes, you can take the IGNOU final exams from any location. You must choose the exam center that is closest to your home.
Is there any negative marking in the BEd entrance that IGNOU conducts?
No, there is no negative marking for attempting any question wrong or for leaving the question unattempted in the BEd entrance that IGNOU conducts.
