Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) founded by Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan, who is a distinguished scholar and visionary, founded this first self-financing engineering college in Tamil Nadu under the Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust in 1984. After that, in 1989, the trust created Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, which MHRD approved in July 2002 as a Deemed to be University by section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. In January 2003, BIST was integrated into BIHER's domain. CSE: Students who receive a PCM score of 70% or more are qualified for a Rs.250,000 merit prize.

Bharath University Facilities 2025:

BIHER has a sprawling area of 305 acres of land with structures located on six campuses both in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry with state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities. In addition, the institute provides amenities like classrooms, seminar halls, libraries, transportation, sports facilities, and separate hostels for four boys and one girl. There are three primary branches of the BIHER library: Computer Science Engineering, Mechanica, and Civil.

Boys' Home: There are four male hostels at the school. The hostels have single, double, and triple beds and AC and non-AC rooms. Students can enjoy all the contemporary conveniences in the hostels. Every floor of the hostels has a TV with cable service. Additionally, students have access to optional laundry services.
