Barkatullah University previously called Bhopal University. It was constructed in capital of Madhya Pradesh in 1970. In the honor of the renowned liberation warrior Prof. Barkatullah, a Bhopal native, it was renamed as Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya in 1988. The 2015 NAAC has assigned the university an overall B grade.
